Thanks to everyone who came along on our ‘Four Palaces guided walk’ on Saturday 3rd June, led by the brilliant Warr’s Walks!
How many Palaces can you name in the City of Westminster? One is easy (Buckingham Palace), and full marks if you remember the Houses of Parliament are technically the Palace of Westminster, but there are two more. Our walk took us past all four, leading participants through Royal London history from 1066 to the present day.
On the way we heard about the grand competition to design the new Palace of Westminster and some of the most dramatic moments in our history that took place inside. We saw where King Henry VIII kept his jewels and stocked his fresh salmon, saw where a King lost his head, heard about the nine day Queen and our longest serving monarch.
By coming along, supporters not only helped us to raise funds to support people impacted by dementia (£340 and counting!), but also contributed 57.9km to our ‘Round the World’ total.
